Saluting Their Service Grant for Cooroy
24th September, 2007
NoosaCare Inc has received Australian Government funding of $1,659 to help to commemorate the sacrifices made by our armed forces. Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss said NoosaCare Inc will receive the funds to install a flagpole in the grounds of the Kabara Aged Care Facility in Cooroy for use by residents on days of commemoration.
“These funds are provided through the Australian Government’s commemorations program, Saluting Their Service,” Mr Truss said.
“Saluting Their Service encourages community participation in commemorative activities honouring the service and sacrifice of those who have served Australia in wars, conflicts and peace operations.”
“NoosaCare Inc members are to be congratulated on their initiative in applying for this grant and I am pleased the Government has been able to support these projects.”
Mr Truss said ex-service and community organisations across Australia had successfully applied for Saluting Their Service grants. Projects supported include the restoration of community war memorials, displays of wartime memorabilia and commemoration of significant wartime anniversaries.
