$132,230 FOR ADDITIONAL HOME AND COMMUNITY CARE
9th October, 2007
Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss today announced a funding boost for Home and Community Care (HACC) organisations in Wide Bay. Mr Truss said $132,230 has been allocated to 6 projects through the region for HACC projects ranging from the supply of office equipment to modifications to buildings.
"HACC services enable frail aged people and young people with disabilities to remain in their own homes with the support of their family," Mr Truss said.
"We know the majority of people prefer to continue living in their own homes, and HACC services can provide them with that option as well as a higher level of independence.
Mr Truss said particular emphasis has been placed on enhancing services such as domestic assistance, personal care, home maintenance, social support and respite care.
"HACC is a joint Australian Government and state and territory government program with the Australian Government contributing 60 per cent of the funding across Australia," he said.
"This financial year, the Australian Government's national allocation for HACC is more than $1.06 billion, an increase of 8.44 per cent over the Australian Government's funding in 2006-07.
"The HACC Program is a central element of the Australian Government's aged care policy."
