Quick Response Grant for Gympie Arts

16th November, 2007
Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss has announced an Australian Government Quick Response Grant to help foster local arts.

Mr Truss said the Cooloola Community Arts Council Inc has been granted $805 towards the cost of accessing a community consultant for the group.

“The consultant will allow the Cooloola Community Arts Council Inc to ensure that it is providing the best possible art facilities, programmes and strategies for the local community,” Mr Truss said.

“I would like to pass on my congratulations to the Cooloola Community Arts Council Inc for their success in being awarded this grant.”

“Regional Quick Response Grants are provided under the Regional Arts Fund to applicants requesting an ultra quick turnaround time for grants.

Responses are normally given within 48 hours of receipt of an application and applicants are normally advised within 5 working days,” Mr Truss said.

All regional arts and community groups and individual artists anywhere in Queensland outside the Brisbane / Ipswich / Caboolture / Sunshine Coast / Gold Coast hub are eligible for funding.

“Priority for funding is given to smaller and remote communities and to those projects which best demonstrate benefits for regional communities.

This programme illustrates that the Coalition Government is conscious of its duty to promote the arts not just in the capital cities, but in the entire country.”

Grants to a maximum of $1,500 are available. For more information contact the Queensland Arts Council at www.qac.org.au
