More Home and Community Care Funding for Maryborough

21st July, 2008
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss today welcomed the announcement of a funding boost for Blue Care Fraser Coast through the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program.

"HACC providers help frail aged people and young people with disabilities to remain in their own homes with the support of their family," Mr Truss said.

"We know the majority of people prefer to continue living in their own homes, and HACC services can provide people with that option and give them a higher level of independence.”

Blue Care Fraser Coast has been allocated $174,190 in extra funding, including: $6,320 for the construction of a ramp at Tirreke Day Respite Centre; $6,850 to replace floor coverings at the Joyce Walker Cottage; $4,270 for filing cabinets and office chairs; $2,025 for a laptop computer for Maryborough Respite services; $1,300 for a computer and $2,025 for a laptop computer; $1,800 for office equipment; $1,600 for allied health equipment; $130,000 for a bus with wheelchair modifications; and $18,000 for a small vehicle to assist in nursing care.

“This funding will assist Blue Care Fraser Coast in the delivery of services which maintain and improve the quality of life for older and disabled Australians.”
