
National Emergency Volunteer Grants for Noosa

Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, has released details of two grants that have been made available through the Federal Government’s National Emergency Volunteer Support Fund.Mr Truss said the National Emergency Volunteer Support Fund assists emergency management response and recovery organisations by providing funding for projects that boost the recruitment, retention and training of volunteers.
Mr Truss said, “$16,500 will be provided to the Sunshine Beach Surf Life Saving Club Inc to assist the Club with the purchase of a range of skills training equipment.
“$32,890 has also been granted to the Queensland State Emergency Service, Noosa to enable research into SES volunteer recruitment and retention.”
“Volunteers serve a vital role in assisting communities to respond and recover from disasters. The Federal Government needs to work cooperatively with all local communities and ensure that adequate resources are in place to support volunteers and help them manage emergencies and mitigate disasters when they occur.”
