Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss has advised people living in the Wide Bay electorate that officers from the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) may be calling on them soon to validate their electoral enrolment.Mr Truss said that AEC officers will be in the region from 20 September 2008 until 31 October 2008.
The only residences that will be visited are those where the AEC believes, from past mail outs and roll information, that enrolment changes may be required.
“The AEC officers will be easily recognised as they will be wearing identity cards showing their photographs and they will also be carrying a distinctive satchel displaying the AEC’s name and logo,” Mr Truss said.
“If residents are away from home when the AEC calls, a special card will be left asking for them to contact the AEC about their enrolment.
“Should anyone have any concerns about the visit, please contact the AEC on 13 23 26 or contact my office on 1300 301 968,” Mr Truss said.
