Federal Member of Wide Bay Warren Truss has advised people living in the Wide Bay electorate that officers from the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) may be calling on them soon to validate their electoral enrolment.Mr Truss said that AEC officers will visit residences in Lake Macdonald, Cooroy, Noosaville and Tinbeerwah from the 14th February until 1 March 2009.
"The AEC officers will be easily recognised as they will be wearing identity cards showing their photographs and they will also be carrying a distinctive satchel displaying the AEC's name and logo,” Mr Truss said.
“If residents are away from home when the AEC calls, a special card will be left asking for them to contact the AEC about their enrolment. Electoral enrolment checks are a routine part of the AEC’s responsibilities and are designed to help check the accuracy of the electoral roll.
“Should anyone have any concerns about the visit, please contact the AEC on 13 23 26 or contact my office on 4121 2936 or 1300 301 968,” Mr Truss said.
