Show your support for Australia’s troops this Christmas
14th December, 2009
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, has called on Australians to show their support for Australia’s troops by sending messages of goodwill and thanks to the members of Australia’s defence forces who will be away from their homes, families and friends this Christmas.“As a nation of growing international stature, much more is expected of Australia and its armed forces in trouble spots around the world,” Mr Truss said.
“Our defence force personnel serve on important missions in Afghanistan, East Timor and the Solomon Islands. Their sacrifice in these roles keeps them away from home but helps to make our nation and our world safer.
“This time of year can be particularly hard for our nation’s service men and women, as well as for their parents, partners and children at home. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our troops and by sending a fax or email we are able to let them know that we honour them and value their service to our nation.”
Mr Truss will be sending a message to our troops, and you are able to show your support by sending a message to the troops via email at messagestothetroops@defence.gov.au or via fax to the Department of Defence at 02 6266 7701
