
$4,950 Community Heritage Grant for Cherbourg Historical Precinct Group Inc

Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, has congratulated the Cherbourg Historical Precinct Group Inc on its successful application for a Community Heritage Grant.Mr Truss said the Group has been awarded $4,950 for a Significance Assessment of its heritage collection.
“The Community Heritage Grants were established by the former Coalition Government to enable communities to preserve their local heritage,” Mr Truss said.
“Much of our nation’s heritage is located in small communities and many towns and areas in Wide Bay offer a history that is rich in interest to residents and tourists. The Community Heritage Grants provide an opportunity for local community groups to improve local knowledge about the heritage of the area and preserve the works of earlier generations.
“The grants are jointly funded by the National Library of Australia, the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, the National Archives of Australia, the National Film and Sound Archive and the National Museum of Australia.”
