A Coalition Government will cut tax for small business

28th July, 2010
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, today said a Coalition Government will cut the company tax rate by 1.5%.

“From 1 July 2013, all businesses across Australia will benefit from a cut to the company tax rate from 30% to 28.5% if the Coalition is successful at the election,” Mr Truss said.

“Small businesses in Wide Bay are the engine room of our local economy. A cut in the company tax rate will flow through to consumers by reducing costs to business, and will help to boost investment and jobs in local communities,” Mr Truss said.

“Small businesses in Wide Bay will be better off under a Coalition Government than under Labor.”

Labor proposes that the company tax rate will be 29% on 1 July 2013, whereas a Coalition Government will deliver a tax rate of 28.5%.

“The Liberal National Party stands for lower taxes. In contrast, Labor stands for higher taxes and their planned taxes on mining and carbon will destroy jobs and increase costs to small businesses and families.

“Small business deserves a fair go. A Coalition Government will cut red-tape and improve small business access to Commonwealth contracts.

“The Coalition will provide small business with a direct line to Government through the establishment of a Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman. Our Coalition team will also give small business a say in the future development of taxation policy.

“Small business is the driver of local communities and we are determined to ensure that government makes it easier, not harder, for small business to prosper, grow and create jobs.”
