Saluting Their Service grant for the Poona Progress Association

13th July, 2011
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, has been advised of a $3,700 Federal Government grant to the Poona Progress Association, to contribute towards a memorial commemorating the service personnel of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces.

“The Saluting Their Service program encourages community participation in commemorative activities which honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served Australia in wars, conflicts and peace operations,” Mr Truss said.

“The Poona Progress Association is to be congratulated on the success of their application. The grant will help the fast growing community of Poona build the area's first war memorial.

“The project will honour the sacrifices and vital contributions made by those who have served Australia and New Zealand and I am pleased that the Commonwealth has been able to contribute to the memorial.”
