Saluting Their Service grant for the Rotary Club of Maryborough Sunrise

5th July, 2011
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, has been advised of a $2,500 Federal Government grant to the Rotary Club of Maryborough Sunrise, to help research the cenotaphs, war memorials and honour rolls on the Fraser Coast and publish a military history of the men and women named on the memorials.

“The Saluting Their Service program encourages community participation in commemorative activities which honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served Australia in wars, conflicts and peace operations,” Mr Truss said.

“The members of the Rotary Club of Maryborough Sunrise are to be congratulated on the success of their application.

“The project will record the sacrifices and vital contributions made by those who served our country and I am pleased that the Commonwealth has been able to contribute to the collection of this information.”
