Saluting Their Service grant for the Poona Community Progress Association Inc

Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, has been advised of a $2,550 Federal Government grant to the Poona Community progress Association Inc, Anzac War Memorial Sub-committee, to help fund a special dedication service on 28 October 2011, to unveil the new Anzac War Memorial in Poona.

“The service will also commemorate the Rats of Tobruk 70th Anniversary and the Centenary of the Royal Australian Navy,” Mr Truss said

“The Saluting Their Service program encourages community participation in commemorative activities which honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served Australia in wars, conflicts and peace operations.

“The members of the Poona Community Progress Association Inc, Anzac War Memorial Sub-committee are to be congratulated on the success of their application.

“The project will help to commemorate the vital contributions made by those who served our country and I am pleased that the Commonwealth has been able to contribute to the dedication service.”
