12th December, 2012
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, has advised of $24,010 in Federal Government funding to the Cooroy Pomona RSL Sub-branch, under the Veteran and Community Grants program.

“The Cooroy Pomona RSL Sub-branch will receive $24,010 to assist with the purchase of a 12 seater community bus, with a wheelchair access lift, which will help to increase social participation opportunities for their members. The bus will replace a vehicle that was destroyed by floods,” Mr Truss said.

The Veteran & Community Grants program aims to maintain and improve the independence and quality of life of members of the veteran community by providing financial assistance for activities, services and projects that sustain or enhance the well being of veterans.

“Australia’s veterans have served their country with pride and distinction, securing peace and freedom for our nation,” Mr Truss said.

“Many veterans and their families continue to help others and strengthen their communities. This grant is one way by which we show our respect for their service to our country and support their ongoing contributions within the community.

“The members of the Cooroy Pomona RSL Sub-branch are to be congratulated on the success of their application,” Mr Truss said.
