$128,000 for Cherbourg carer respite
25th June, 2013
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, today said carers in Cherbourg will benefit from a $128,000 Australian Government grant which has been provided to the Ny-ku Byun Respite Service.“This funding will provide centre based day respite support to 18 carers; in home day respite to 6 carers; and overnight community respite to 6 carers,” Mr Truss said.
The funding is provided through the National Respite for Carers Program.
“The program assists the carers of frail older Australians, as well as those people with dementia and challenging behaviours, by helping to support and maintain the relationship between carers and their family members or friends who receiving their care.
“This assistance is vital to ensure that carers are able to continue the special support that they offer to the frail and elderly.”
