LNP Coalition Government offers a better future for Wide Bay
5th August, 2013
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss today said the 2013 election provides voters with a clear choice between an unstable Labor Government which had gone from bad to worse, or a better future under a Liberal and National Parties Coalition Government.“At this election, the people will decide who they trust to deliver a stronger economy, stronger borders, a stronger Australia, and a stable Government, after six years of the dysfunctional and chaotic Rudd/Gillard/Rudd Labor Government,” Mr Truss said.
“This is the most anticipated election in a generation. At this election, the Coalition offers a stable, experienced and united team, ready for Government and ready to deliver a better future for all Australians,” Mr Truss said.
“Locally, I am committed to building economic and community confidence, creating jobs and securing a fairer share of government funding to improve infrastructure and services.
“Upgrading the Bruce Highway to make it safer, faster and less prone to flooding is a key priority for me. The Coalition has committed $1.991 billion to projects to improve the Bruce Highway in the Wide Bay electorate alone.
“A Coalition Government will fund the construction of Sections A and C of the Cooroy to Curra four lane upgrade, and start work on the Gympie bypass.
“A Coalition Government will also upgrade the Saltwater Creek crossing at Aldershot and upgrade the Black Swamp and Chinaman Creek crossings at Tiaro, making them less prone to flooding. We will also reconstruct the Bruce Highway/Tinana interchange.
“These projects form part of a ten year $10 billion Coalition plan to fix the Bruce,” Mr Truss said.
“Rolling out our fast, affordable, sooner, National Broadband Network (NBN), which will connect every home and business in Wide Bay to fast broadband by 2016 is also a priority for me,” Mr Truss said.
“I want every family, household and business in Wide Bay to have the opportunity to share in the prosperity of our nation.
“A Coalition Government will strengthen the economy by scrapping Labor’s carbon and mining taxes and cutting red tape. This will lift investment, boost our competitiveness, increase our productivity, and create jobs.
“I will work as a senior member of a Coalition Government to get the priorities right, and provide strong and effective representation to deliver a better future for everyone in Wide Bay.”
