New construction work on the Bruce Highway, Cooroy to Curra, Section A project

30th September, 2013
Federal Member for Wide Bay and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Warren Truss today advised that a new construction project requiring early morning starts at the site of the Black Mountain Range Road overpass on the Bruce Highway will be undertaken in October 2013.

“New work will start at 5.30am on approximately 15 occasions, to pour concrete during the coolest part of the day to protect the bridge from cracking,” Mr Truss said.

“The construction crew will set up on site from 5.00am. They will do everything possible to minimize disruption to local residents but those in close proximity may hear some noise from the site."

The project team will send letters to nearby residents to advise them of the early starts and to apologise for any inconvenience caused to them.

“All other construction activities will continue to be undertaken between 7.00am and 5.00pm.”

This work forms part of contract 1B, which includes the realignment of an 850 metre section of Black Mountain Range Road and construction of an overpass over the new highway, to maintain the connection to the existing highway. The contractor for contract 1B is Hazell Bros Group Pty Ltd.

“Work on contract 1B is expected to be completed by mid-2014, weather permitting.”
