Federal LNP Government will fund $450,000 for Gympie Music Muster project
4th December, 2013
Federal Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister, Warren Truss, today announced that the Australian Government will provide up to $450,000 to the Gympie Muster, to improve the Gympie Music Muster site at Amamoor Creek State Forest Park.“The project works include repairs to the main stage venue, improving disability access, and installing three new portable amenities blocks,” Mr Truss said.
“The Gympie Music Muster is a significant tourist drawcard, attracting people from all over Australia to Gympie. The new facilities will add to the experience that visitors and locals enjoy at the event.”
The funding has been made available following the review of projects that were left uncontracted and unfunded by the previous Labor Government.
“I am pleased that the new Liberal and Nationals Government will contribute up to $450,000 to this project, through the Coalition’s new Community Development Grants Programme,” Mr Truss said.
“The Coalition’s Community Development Grants Programme honours our election commitment to support projects that promote stable, secure and viable communities,” Mr Truss said.
“The new Government is committed to building and improving social and economic infrastructure for regional communities, like Gympie.
“Unlike the former Labor Government’s phantom regional development funding, which was based on a flawed and failed mining tax, the Coalition Government is ensuring that community projects are properly funded and budgeted,” Mr Truss said.
The Community Development Grants Programme is administered by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, which will undertake a value-for-money assessment against the programme guidelines to ensure transparency in decision-making.
“I congratulate the Gympie Music Muster on their successful application and look forward to the delivery of the improvements at the Muster site.”
