Truss commits $120,000 to Cooloola Coast Medical Transport for new premises
4th December, 2013
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss today committed the Federal Liberal Nationals Government to providing $120,000 to Cooloola Coast Medical Transport (CCMT) for new premises.“This funding will be delivered through the Coalition’s new Community Development Grants Programme to provide premises for CCMT to accommodate their offices and vehicles,” Mr Truss said.
“CCMT is a fantastic community organisation which helps the elderly, frail and disabled residents of the Cooloola Coast to access medical treatment, all the way from Brisbane to Hervey Bay.
“I recognise the importance of this essential service which helps to connect Cooloola Coast residents with medical services and I am pleased to support the work that CCMT does in the community.
“This funding will provide CCMT with a home of its own which will also assist their operations to become more sustainable,” Mr Truss said.
“The new government is committed to building and improving social and economic infrastructure in regional communities.
“Unlike the former Labor Government’s phantom regional development funding, which was based on a flawed and failed mining tax, the Coalition Government has ensured that its Community Development Grants Programme projects are properly funded and budgeted for,” Mr Truss said.
The Community Development Grants Programme is administered by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, which will undertake a value-for-money assessment against the programme guidelines to ensure transparency in decision-making about funding election commitments.
“I thank the volunteers and staff who help to deliver this service to residents of the Cooloola Coast. Our commitment reflects the high regard that the community has for CCMT.”
