Bruce Highway night works at Cooroy may cause delays
5th September, 2014
Federal Member for Wide Bay and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Warren Truss, has advised that night works will begin on the Bruce Highway near the Cooroy interchange, from Sunday September 7. “The works are part of section A of the Cooroy to Curra upgrade, Mr Truss said.
“Temporary road barriers will be installed and existing traffic medians and islands will be removed. New asphalting and line marking of the road will also be carried out.
“The works are being performed between 8pm and 5am, Sunday to Thursday, and are expected to be completed by early October 2014, weather permitting.”
To ensure the safety of motorists and road workers, there may temporary lane closures and traffic diversions. Reduced speeds, traffic control and signage may also be used as required.
“While efforts are being made to minimize the impact of the roadworks, motorists may need to consider adding some extra time to their journey in the event that the construction causes delays.
“I thank motorists for their patience and cooperation during the construction period,” Mr Truss said.
The works are joint-funded by the Federal and State Governments, as part of the Cooroy-to-Curra upgrade of the Bruce Highway.
