Mary Valley Road repairs may cause delays
16th September, 2014
Federal Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss, has advised that road repair works have commenced on Mary Valley Road, near Birt Road at Long Flat.“Preparatory clearing works on Mary Valley Road have been completed, and new road repair construction has now commenced. These new works will increase the width of the sealed road surface to five metres and will involve the excavation and back filling of the road,” Mr Truss said.
“The road works will generally be undertaken between 6am and 6pm, although 24 hour traffic control may be required periodically during the road works. The road repairs are expected to be completed by early October 2014, weather permitting.
To ensure the safety of motorists and road workers, temporary lane closures, reduced speeds, traffic lights and signage may be used as required.
“While efforts are being made to minimize the impact of the road works, motorists may wish to consider adding some extra time to their journey should any delays arise.
“I thank motorists for their patience and cooperation during the construction period,” Mr Truss said.
The works are joint-funded by the Federal and State Governments, as part of the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) and complementary state government funding is being provided to widen the road.
