Less than a month left to confirm attendance at Gallipoli Anzac Day 2015
3rd October, 2014
Recipients of a place in the ballot to attend the Anzac Day commemoration at Gallipoli in 2015, have less than four weeks to accept or decline the offer to be present at next year’s centenary Dawn Service, says Federal Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss.“I would like to remind residents of the Wide Bay region who have been offered a place at the Gallipoli 2015 Anzac Day service, that they have until 11:59 pm AEDT Saturday, 25 October 2014, to confirm their attendance at the commemorations. Travel booking details must also be provided by this time,” Mr Truss said.
Eligible recipients can accept or decline their place by logging into their ballot account via www.gallipoli2015.dva.gov.au or, if they have forgotten their account details, calling Ticketek on 1300 364 002.
“I encourage those people who have been offered a place in the ballot to accept or decline their offer as soon as possible. There are many Australians on the wait list, who are eager to attend the commemorations, and it is important to give those people as much time as possible to organise and pay for their trip. Attendance passes that are returned are re-issued to the next person on the waitlist.
“More than 230 places have already been released to the national wait list and further releases are expected as those who were initially offered a place in the ballot decline their passes. The wait list will operate until 31 March 2015.
“Those people who are unsuccessful in the 2015 Anzac Day ballot, may wish to visit Gallipoli on 6 August 2015, for the Battle of Lone Pine Centenary commemoration service. The Battle at Lone Pine saw some of the fiercest fighting of the Gallipoli campaign.
“Australians may also consider attending another Dawn Service in Australia or overseas, or watch the television broadcast of the Gallipoli and Villers-Bretonneux services on the ABC. Another option is to visit Gallipoli at another time during the Centenary year,” Mr Truss said.
