Possible delays on Bruce as work progresses on Cooroy southern interchange

22nd October, 2014
Federal Member for Wide Bay and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss, today advised that road works are continuing near the Cooroy southern interchange, as part of the Bruce Highway, Cooroy to Curra, Section A project.

“Current work includes the installation of temporary road barriers, the removal of the existing traffic and median islands, new road surfacing, and line marking,” Mr Truss said.

“Disruptions to traffic may occur until November, between 8pm and 5am, Sunday to Thursday. Traffic controls including lane and road shoulder closures, traffic controls and some diversions may be required,” Mr Truss said.

“There will also be some changes to traffic at the Cooroy southern interchange connection road at Myall Street, to create a works area for bridge and roundabout construction. Single lane closures, signage and traffic controls will be in place until early 2015.”

Mr Truss said that construction of the new northbound highway lanes, the first of the Cooroy southern interchange bridges and approach embankments, as well as drainage, services and environmental controls, have commenced between the interchange and Cudgerie Drive.

“These works will generally occur between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday, but some night work may be required. Traffic management will be in place during construction and may include shoulder closures and traffic controls.

“While efforts are being made to minimise disruption, local residents may experience some noise, dust and vibration during the construction,” Mr Truss said.

“Motorists may wish to consider adding some extra time to their journey, or using alternate routes, to allow for any delays that may arise as a consequence of these works.

“I thank motorists for their patience and cooperation during the construction period,” Mr Truss said.
