Roads to Recovery funding flows in Wide Bay
17th November, 2014
Funding has today been made available to councils in Wide Bay to assist with local road construction and maintenance, thanks to the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery Programme, Federal Member for Wide Bay and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Warren Truss said today. “The first quarterly payments through the new Roads to Recovery Programme will allow councils to share in $69 million worth of funding, across 183 local government authorities nationwide, which includes $312,519 in funding for Wide Bay councils,” Mr Truss said.
Mr Truss said the Roads to Recovery funding for Wide Bay includes:
• $162,519 in funding for Gympie Regional Council
• $150,000 in funding for Noosa Council
“The real advantage of Roads to Recovery funding is that councils are can use this money to fund road repairs according to their own priorities, which means the money is targeting the roads that need it most,” Mr Truss said.
“I have no doubt that councils in Wide Bay will welcome this funding, which together with $9.3 billion in Financial Assistance Grants and $565 million in Black Spot funding, is helping councils to build better roads for Australian communities.”
