More than 90 new aged care places for Wide Bay
5th December, 2014
Federal Government funding of $5,428,000 will deliver an extra 92 new residential aged care places across Wide Bay, under the 2014 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR), Federal Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss announced today. “Arcare Noosaville will receive funding for 90 new residential care places, including 20 places to provide care for people with dementia. Some of these places will also provide special care to veterans and financially or socially disadvantaged older Australians,” Mr Truss said.
“Cooinda Aged Care in Gympie will also receive funding to provide an extra two residential care places.
“A further $560,000 is being provided by the Federal Government to KinCare, based in Noosaville, to provide eight home care places to people with basic care needs, eight places for people with low level care needs and 12 places for people requiring an intermediate level of care.
“These home services are important, as they enable older Australians to receive care while remaining in the comfort, security and familiar surrounds of their own home for as long as possible.
“This extra funding will help these aged care organisations in Wide Bay to continue to provide a variety of aged care services, so that older residents may have access to the level of care that best meets their needs,” Mr Truss said.
“The Federal Coalition Government is committed to working with the aged care sector to help provide the support and care that older Australians require for an active, happy and healthy lifestyle.”
The ACAR is the process that allocates funding for new Government residential aged care and home care places and for capital grants each year.
