New small grants programme to boost communities in Wide Bay

26th June, 2015

Federal Member for Wide Bay and Minister for Infrastructure Warren Truss today said that the Federal Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Programme will provide $150,000 a year over two years for small capital projects that deliver social benefits to communities in Wide Bay.

“Applicants will be able to apply for funding of at least $5,000 and up to a maximum of $20,000, but will need to provide matching cash or in-kind funding,” Mr Truss said.

“The Stronger Communities Programme is a terrific opportunity for councils and incorporated sporting, community and service organisations to apply for small grants for projects that boost the vibrancy and livability of communities in Wide Bay. I look forward to working with local groups to identify eligible projects that will help our region to grow and flourish.

“I will establish a consultation committee to examine and prioritise projects to ensure this funding delivers the best possible outcomes for communities in our region.

“I encourage organisations interested in applying for funding to contact my electorate office on 4121 2936, or the Sunshine Coast or Wide Bay Burnett RDA, to discuss projects, ideas and determine eligibility for funding under the Programme.” Mr Truss said.

“Applications will be assessed against the Programme Guidelines by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, to ensure that projects represent value for money.”

Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the Stronger Communities Programme Guidelines and the Frequently Asked Questions, available on the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development’s website http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/SCP
