Heart of Gold Film Festival Receives Regional Arts Fund Support
30th July, 2015
“Gympie’s Heart of Gold Film Festival will receive $8,120 in Federal Government funding for their Filmmaking Master Classes project through the Regional Arts Fund,” Federal Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss said today. Mr Truss welcomed the Australian Government’s support for new arts and cultural projects in Australia’s regional communities through the Regional Arts Fund.
“The Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund supports local artists and arts/cultural organisations to create artworks and events that not only speak to our community in the Wide Bay but that allow us to participate in the process of creation," Mr Truss said.
“This funding will support the Heart of Gold Film Festival (running this year from 8 - 11 October) for their Filmmaking Master Classes which will develop and deliver a community based class program which will be open to members of the public and involve several workshops. This project will support the ongoing efforts to establish a school of film excellence in the region.”
Mr Truss stated that more than $745,000 has been provided for 68 arts and cultural projects across regional Australia. The Regional Arts Fund is funded by the Australian Government and administered by Regional Arts Australia. The projects will animate community spaces, provide opportunities for participation and increased understanding of artists with disability, assist in the preservation and transmission of Indigenous culture and provide opportunities for local artists to build and share their professional practice.
“The Australian Government is committed to the growth and sustainability of the arts in regional Australia,” Mr Truss said.
“Our regional artists and arts organisations are some of Australia’s most innovative and exciting cultural producers and this support will enable them to continue to create projects that inspire, engage and reflect local communities.”
The Regional Arts Fund supports arts and cultural development projects in regional, remote and isolated communities and is delivered nationally by Regional Arts Australia through its member organisations.
