Federal grant helps Kandanga Country Club shine

22nd February, 2016

Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss, today announced that Kandanga Country Club will receive $10,500 for new lighting, under the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme (SCP).

“This grant will assist the Kandanga Country Club with the cost of installing better lighting at the club,” Mr Truss said.

“The new lighting will enable the Kandanga Country Club to host more events, including twilight lawn bowls in the cool of the evening, providing a more comfortable environment for members and visitors at the club.

“Mary Valley towns like Kandanga add significantly to the charm and appeal of our region. I was greatly saddened about the loss of Kandanga’s historic and iconic hotel some months ago. Kandanga is a town with great community spirit and I am sure this funding will support the resilience of the community and increase social and recreation opportunities,” Mr Truss said.

The Stronger Communities Programme is a Federal Government initiative designed increase the resilience of communities, especially those in disadvantaged rural and regional areas, by providing grants for small capital projects.

Local councils and incorporated not for profit organisations can apply for grants of between $5,000 and $20,000, with up to $150,000 available for each Federal electorate per year. Applications for the second round of the program are now open.
