National Stronger Regions Fund Round 3 closing in two weeks
1st March, 2016
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss has reminded local Councils and incorporated not for profit community service and sporting organisations that applications for the Coalition Government’s successful National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF) close on 15 March 2016.“The NSRF aims to support priority infrastructure projects in disadvantaged communities, to strengthen the economy, create jobs and encourage growth,” Mr Truss said.
“Project proposals must demonstrate long-term economic benefits and tackle local disadvantage.
“I encourage applicants to consult with their local Regional Development Australia (RDA) committee to ascertain the suitability of their project for funding under the NSRF. RDA contact details can be found at www.rda.gov.au.”
The NSRF will provide $1 billion over five years for capital projects involving the construction of new infrastructure or the upgrade or extension of existing facilities.
The Coalition Government has a strong commitment to strengthening regional communities. The first two rounds of NSRF have already provided $505 million towards 162 projects across the country, including:
• $900,000 for the second stage of the Duncan Chapman memorial at Maryborough
• $325,000 for the extension of Maryborough’s Brolga Theatre
• $5,000,000 for the new Aquatic Centre at Gympie
• $548,250 to upgrade the Pavilion Conference Centre at the Gympie Showgrounds
“Grants of $20,000 and $10 million are available and funding must be matched in cash on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis, except for those applicants in remote and very remote locations.
“For Round Three, remote and very remote applicants need to contribute at least one dollar for every three dollars of NSRF funding sought.”
