12th April, 2016
The Cooroy-Pomona RSL sub-branch will receive $8,447 under the Australian Government’s Vietnam War Commemorative Grants, Saluting Their Service program, Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss announced today. “The grant will be used to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan and will include a commemorative service and luncheon on 21 August 2016.
“This event will help to ensure that the service and sacrifice of those who have served in the Vietnam War will not be forgotten and that their stories are preserved for future Australians.
“I congratulate the Cooroy Pomona RSL sub-branch on their successful application and applaud their efforts to recognise the invaluable contribution of those who served in the Vietnam conflict,” Mr Truss said.
The program provides one-off funding of between $4,000 and $20,000 for community-based commemorative projects and activities that directly commemorate any aspect of the Vietnam War.
