Federal grant funds audio-visual equipment for community hall

29th April, 2016
The Cooloola Cove Veterans & Community Hall will receive $18,893 to supply and install in house AV equipment under the Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Programme (SCP), Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss announced today.

“Often when the hall is hosting events they are forced to hire equipment which makes events expensive to stage. This funding will enable the Hall to install an audio-visual sound system that enables them to stage professional events within the budget of not for profit organisations.

“The Cooloola Cove Veterans & Community Hall is well integrated into the local community, hosting the Cooloola Coast Disaster Management Volunteers, fitness classes, Neighbourhood Watch, Residents and Friends & AA meetings as well as monthly markets. The facility provides extensive opportunities for social interaction and strongly encourages community involvement and participation,” Mr Truss said.

The Stronger Communities Programme is a Federal Government initiative designed to increase the resilience of communities, by providing grants for small capital projects.

Local councils and incorporated not for profit organisations can apply for grants of between $5,000 and $20,000, with up to $150,000 available for each Federal electorate per year. Applications for the second round of the program have recently closed and are now being assessed.
