Veterans Affairs Officers to Visit

22nd January, 2007
Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss has advised that a Veterans’ Affairs officer will visit centres through the Wide Bay in February for personal interviews.

Mr Truss said a veteran’s affairs officer will be at;

• Hervey Bay RSL on Monday 12 February 2007 from 10.30 pm to 4.30 pm (bookings through Hervey Bay RSL Sub Branch on 4128 4877 between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm);
• Maryborough on Wednesday 14 February 2007 from 10.00 am to 11.00 am (bookings through the Maryborough RSL Sub Branch on 41213372); and
• Tin Can Bay at the RSL SubBranch Hall on Wednesday 14 February 2007 from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm (bookings through the Tin Can Bay RSL Sub Branch on 5486 2110).

“The interviews provide a chance for people to make enquiries about any aspect of veterans’ benefits and assistance. Rules and regulations regarding veterans’ benefits can be very complicated, and working through with a departmental representative is often the best way to determine entitlements,” Mr Truss said.

“I would encourage veterans to book an appointment with an officer if there are any concerns whatsoever about departmental rulings.”

Mr Truss said appointments can also be arranged by phoning the Department’s Maroochydore office on 1300 55 1918 or the Department’s state office on 1800 555 254.
