Rudd’s “denier” disgrace
14th September, 2009
The Prime Minister disgraced himself and his Government today when he accused The Nationals of being “climate change deniers” in Parliament today, knowing full well that the word “denier” is mainly used to describe those who say the Holocaust never happened.“This is a disgusting term and comparison, and Mr Rudd knows it,” said the Leader of The Nationals, Warren Truss.
“Using the word ‘denier’ in this way seeks to imply that those who question Rudd Labor’s job and investment destroying emissions trading scheme are on the same level as those who think six million Jews were never murdered in Nazi Germany.
“It shows how far Mr Rudd has sunk in his desperate bid to sell his dreadful ETS.
“As he continued with his childish parliamentary abuse today, Mr Rudd started using the word ‘sceptic’ instead of ‘denier’. But the damage had been done.
“Mr Rudd’s ministry and backbench contain many people who rightly draw attention to those who make spurious comparisons between some modern day event and the horrors of the Holocaust.
“Those people would do well to advise Mr Rudd today that using a term like ‘climate change denier’ is beneath him and his Government,” Mr Truss said.
